Downtown Kayak Adventure: Dawn Patrol

October 21 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 am EDT

Join Outdoor Chattanooga for an early morning guided and equipped kayak paddle on the Tennessee River.  The paddle distance is about 5 miles and should take approximately 2 hours.  A perfect set up to let the boss know you will be having your morning meeting outside with nature and that you will be in the office by mid morning.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy the river in the autumn season, when the water temperature is typically cooler than the air temperature. Enjoy a leisurely paced paddle along the river in search of wildlife such as migrant shorebirds, herons, and kingfisher.  You may hear the wildlife before it is seen as it is likely to be paddling in the early morning fog.

We will set the shuttle for you.  Your vehicle will be at the take out of Coolidge Park downtown.  Prior to departure, you’ll receive basic paddling instruction, water safety information and be properly outfitted in a lifejacket, kayak and fog light.

Outdoor Chattanooga uses the Wilderness System Pungo a recreational kayaks that fit most body types (kayak weight limit is 275lbs). Previous kayak experience is helpful, but not necessary to participate. The guide staff will provide instruction and support.  Appropriate for ages 14 and up when accompanied by a participating adult.

Online registration and payment are required in advance as space is limited.  The fee is $35 per person.  Additional details are sent after paid registration. Call 423-643-6888 to register or learn more.
