Fundamentals of Mountain Biking | Level 1

The FUNdamentals of Mountain Biking
Outdoor Chattanooga offers the Introduction to Mountain Biking: Level 1 course designed for the novice or beginning rider who is looking to learn the fundamental skills for riding trails in a controlled setting. This is a 2 hour course which utilizes an open field with small features to prepare you for riding on single track trails. Our PIMBA certified instructor teaches you using a format that can be structured to your pace and individual learning style.
The Level 2 trail class reinforces and builds upon these skills on a various single track trails in the Chattanooga area.
Need a bike? No problem! Outdoor Chattanooga can provide a mountain bike and helmet for you to use so you can get started.
The Level 1 course covers the following in a fun and relaxed atmosphere:
Bike safety check and fit
Riding body positions for off-road terrain
Shifting, pedal positions, and using your brakes
Maneuvering techniques and drills
Climbing and descending
Local trail and area resources to further your mountain biking pursuits
Appropriate for ages 10-110. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to ensure quality instruction. Mountain bikes and helmets can be provided. Participants must already know how to confidently ride a bike to participate in this class.
Fee: $10 per person
REGISTRATION is required. Additional dates are available.
Don’t have a mountain bike? No problem. Provided!!! We have mountain bikes for use at no additional charge so you can decide if this sport is for you before making a big investment.

Take your riding even further with our Intro to Mountain Biking Fundamentals Classes and Guided Trail Level 1 and Level 2
These classes are held on single track trails that are considered beginner level and do have elevation gain and loss, tight turns, rocks and roots. It is recommended to take the fundamentals class prior to the trail class; however, it is not mandatory.
