Learn: annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count

December 7, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EST

Join us for a free presentation to learn about the tradition and importance of the annual Christmas bird count and how you may get involved in birding in Chattanooga!
Dr. David Aborn, an Ornithologist and Assistant Professor of Biology, Geology and Environmental Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will provide a presentation on his experience and more information on how you may get involved in birding!
Beginning on Christmas Day 1900, ornithologist Frank M. Chapman, an early officer in the then-nascent Audubon Society, proposed a new holiday tradition—a “Christmas Bird Census”.  Many birding advocates volunteer to participate in this annual bird count and tradition!  Chattanooga area participates through the National Audubon Society.
