Learn to Belay
Belaying is a foundational skill that is essential in rock climbing at the crag or at an indoor gym. Belaying is operating the rope to control a climber from falling.
Do you want to learn to belay or need a refresher? Outdoor Chattanooga's experienced climbing staff teach this course at the OC center and the Walnut Wall in Coolidge Park.
The Learn to Belay class provides instruction and practice in
– climber/belayer commands and communication terms
– Toe-2-Toe systems check
-harness fit and knots
-belay device use and types
-belay technique using PBUS method
-lowering technique
Taking this class will put you in a great position for your next adventure as a climber.
Online registration and payment are required in advance as space is limited. Additional details are given with paid registration. We cannot accommodate anyone with their own watercraft on these tours.
