NPS Battle of Ringgold Gap Kayak Tour

June 17, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT

Join Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in partnership with Outdoor Chattanooga for a FREE, 3 hour guided kayak tour to explore Chattanooga’s Civil War waterways as a host National Park Ranger provides a historical narrative of the Battle of Ringgold Gap from the kayak.

The National Park Partners sponsor this kayak tour to give visitors the opportunity to paddle the quiet waters of Chickamauga Creek to learn about the rich Civil War and American Indian history associated with Lookout Mountain and Moccasin Bend from a National Park Ranger and historian.

Directions to the launch site will be provided with a reservation confirmation.
Participation is limited for quality of the experience and safety.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN 10 days before this program.

Children must be at least 14 years old.
No experience is necessary.  Some paddling experience is recommended due to the meandering creek, moving water, and undeveloped launch sites.  Low water may require exiting the boat at times. Equipment and instruction provided.  Lifejackets provided and required.  Instruction and paddler support is provided.  OC uses Wilderness Systems Pungo recreational kayaks for this tour.

Outdoor Chattanooga and the National Park Service reserve the right to cancel a trip at any time at their discretion, due to weather or water conditions. A rain date has been set.

You will be notified via phone and email by the trip leader to confirm your participation 3 days prior to the program.  Your reply will confirm you spot on the trip.  Otherwise, we may need to move to the wait list so that the trip runs at capacity.  We appreciate your understanding in the confirmation as this is a very popular program.

This trip is typically wait listed.  Participants will be notified as soon as possible if there is a cancellation.
