Come join the Barnard Astronomical Society at Greenway Farm for a day of stargazing at the nearest star to Earth: the Sun! We will have specialized telescopes allowing for safe viewing of sunspots, prominences, and perhaps solar flares. This will be a unique experience to view the Sun safely, up close and in great detail. Remember: Never look directly at the Sun. The BAS has highly-specialized equipment that allows for safe viewing. Viewing the Sun without proper equipment and training will lead to instant and permanent blindness.
Time:1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Bring: lawn chairs, hats, snacks, and cool refreshments. Oh, and sunscreen – lots of sunscreen!
