Formal river instruction provides beginning paddlers the proper techniques and guidance to safely and comfortably paddle moving water up to class III whitewater. We provide all of the equipment needed to get started too!

This is a weekend long instructional clinic on whitewater rivers in western North Carolina.  These rivers provide the opportunity to practice on different rivers which offer the beginner paddler more advancement in their skills.

Rapid Learning Whitewater Kayak Program provides instructional clinics offered on a variety of whitewater rivers in the southeast in a small ratio group setting with the emphasis on building skills according to the pace of each individual. Our instructors have years of instructional experience, have paddled a variety of rivers worldwide and are American Canoe Association (ACA) nationally certified. Participants may join the program at anytime. Participants are eligible to attend river trips once they have demonstrated essential skills such as confident wet exits, basic self rescue, and can effectively maneuvering the kayak.

Pre-requisite: Fundamentals of kayaking and skills practice at Chester Frost Park Wednesday nights from 6-7 or 7-8 pm. The skills practice is free your first time (see if you like it), then we ask for you to commit to an annual membership to continue formal instruction— because  it takes time to master these skills!
