Cravens House to Sunset Rock is one of Chattanooga’s classic hikes with a stunning view. Outdoor Chattanooga’s guides will lead a leisurely paced 2-mile hike from the historic Craven’s House to Sunset Rock on top of Lookout Mountain. The hike is rated as moderately strenuous with a gradual uphill climb that is calf-burning in some sections. You’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of Lookout Valley, Raccoon Mountain, Elder Mountain, and Walden’s Ridge peeking out through the trees as the sun sets over the city. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide a shuttle ride back to the starting location at Craven’s house to avoid hiking in the dark. Appropriate for ages 10 and up with a participating adult due to booster seat requirements. Cost: Free. Online registration required in advance as space is limited.
